It manages the PANs of cards issued by Thales (card production) and maintains the referenced balance for each Closed-Loop EMV prepaid card.
The CAMS is integrated with both the transport operator’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and the processing platform of the Transit Payment Service Provider (Transit PSP). Through these interfaces, it receives the final fare-settlement (ticket price) information. As the final fare is only determined once end-of-day processing has been completed, the respective amount is deducted from the card balance and the balance is updated accordingly at the end of the day.
In addition, the CAMS defines minimum and maximum balance thresholds for Closed-Loop EMV prepaid cards. For example, if a configured minimum balance of EUR 5 is breached, the CAMS instructs the Transit PSP to place the card on the blacklist. The cardholder is then unable to make further journeys until the card has been reloaded → at the transport operator’s service center, through an authorized sales partner, or online via the customer portal.
